Her work on horror movies has earned her the title horror queen. The first time she was recognized for her work was starring as Marnie Michaels in the HBO comedy-drama series Girls (2012-2017) and resulted in an Critics' Choice Award nomination. Her breakthrough came with the character of Rose Armitage, in the thriller Get Out (2017). It brought her MTV Movie Awards nominations and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
